Osteogenesis Imperfecta

Osteogenesis Imperfecta, also known as brittle bone disease, is a genetic disease in which the bones break very easily. The body has an abnormality with collagen (a protein that forms bones).

There are four types of OI, Type 1 being the mildest (and there has been research to suggest there are at lest 2 more types bringing the number to a possible 6) Each has it’s own  characteristics. Some people find out at birth that they have it, others don’t know untill well into their adult lives.  O.I. has no cure nor are there any real form of treatments. Most people who have it spend their live having surgeries, physical therapy, and end up with walking aids/wheelchairs.
